Louisville sign Elijah Wynder to new contract - Brother of club record transfer

Louisville City FC have signed midfielder Elijah Wynder to a new long-term contract. The new deal comes on the back of an excellent start to the 2024 USL Championship season. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has scored two goals in eight games across all competitions for Louisville City this season. The new contract will run until 2025 with a club option for 2026. 

“We are really proud to be able to extend Elijah here at Louisville City,” Louisville head coach Danny Cruz said. “He is an academy graduate who we have continued to watch develop every day, and we are excited for what the future holds for him. I know that Elijah will continue to focus on improving and do everything he can to help us get back to winning a USL Championship title.”

Born and raised in Kentucky, Wynder is the older brother of Joshua Wynder. Joshua became the most expensive transfer in USL Championship history when he was sold for €1.12 million to Benfica last summer. Like his younger brother, Elijah is a product of the prolific Louisville City academy and has already featured in 55 games (seven goals) across all competitions for the club.
