After a frustrating campaign that had a number of highs and lows, Tottenham Hotspur managed to finish the season with a smile on their faces when they clinched a top four finish in the Premier League, thanks to a convincing 5-0 win over Norwich. Not only does it now confirm Champions League football for next season, but did so at the direct expense of rivals Arsenal.

Gareth Bale has confirmed that he will leave Real Madrid this summer when his contract at the club comes to an end, stating that he fulfilled his “dream” of playing for the club and winning titles over the course of his nine-year stay in Spain. The Wales international will become a free agent when his deal expires at the end of June. In an open letter which the player published on social media, Bale overlooked much of the criticism he has received in recent years from fans and the Spanish media - who likened him to a “parasite” earlier this year - to thank the club and, in particular, club president Florentino Pérez for supporting him through the years.

Tottenham Hotspur may have clinched a final-day top four spot in the conclusion to this season’s Premier League campaign, but Antonio Conte & Co. certainly aren’t resting on their laurels ahead of an equally important summer transfer window. And, once again, it seems as though they have stolen a lead on their closest rivals. Indeed, according to FootballLondon, Spurs are set to complete their third signing of the summer transfer window after agreeing a fee in the region of £25 million for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, who is expected to join the club following the arrival of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan and Fraser Forster from Southampton on free transfers.

After the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A, and Ligue 1, Transfermarkt has also updated all market values in Europe’s fifth top league, the Premier League, after the end of the season. In course of this, the number of footballers with a market value of €100 million or more dropped from five to three worldwide. The biggest winner among the players is Liverpool’s winter arrival Luis Díaz, while Chelsea and record signing Romelu Lukaku again lose value. In addition to the Belgian striker, many other stars in the top segment have to accept devaluations – especially at Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur look set to continue their summer spending spree, with reports in England indicating that the club are on the verge of signing Everton forward Richarlison, as well as picking up Barcelona central defender Clement Lenglet on loan. Which would put the club’s new signings for the off-season at no less than five first team players for Antonio Conte’s side. According to Football London, Spur are hopeful of agreeing a fee with their Merseyside counterparts in the next 24 hours, which could end up costing the club around £50 million (€58m) for Richarlison’s signature. If so, it would make the Brazil international Tottenham’s second most expensive signing, following Tanguy Ndombélé’s €60m move from Lyon in 2019.
